Full Description:
Project Engineer, Central Branch (South Normanton/Selby)

To deliver the engineering execution of projects to the required quality, time and cost, including cost effective, profit enhancing design

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE
Minimum Qualifications
HNC/HND with relevant industrial experience.
Preferred Qualifications
Degree in an Engineering discipline as well as having or working towards Chartered Engineer status.

Experience
Experience of leading multi-discipline design engineering teams within the process/power engineering sector, ideally with fired boilers as part of the scope. This should ideally include experience of managing design teams who have design responsibility for part of the project delivery. The projects should ideally include design, supply and construction responsibility with exposure to key roles under the CDM Regulations. The candidates should be able to demonstrate that their past projects have been delivered to the defined quality standards and within budget.

Knowledge and application of design and engineering process, work break down structure, programme logic, “deliverables” and associated man hours
Effective optimisation of quality, time and cost parameters
Ability to identify, evaluate and provide a resolution to technical problems
Effective identification, evaluation and mitigation of technical risk
Strong communication skills – ability to provide effective technical presentations to both internal and external clients
Work to Business Operating procedures, work instructions and templates in line with best practice
Approval of technical documentation from the project team

KEY DUTIES
Day to day management of the engineering team, coordinating design and specification for procurement of all equipment in connection with specific project.
Creation and regular review of engineering work breakdown structure, execution plan and programme including engineering team deliverables, cost allowances and resource profile.
Management of engineering schedule, resources and associated budget
Establish clear communication lines within the project team to ensure that they are fully informed in all aspects of the project
Responsibility for outsourced design or supplies and management of subcontractors
Liaison and co-ordination with Project Manager / client both on a regular basis including through participation in design review meetings
Technical Presentations to clients.
Negotiation and agreement of work scope change and support production of contract deviations and clarifications
Co-ordination of the release of technical documentation to and from the project team, providing prompt resolution of any identified issues, to ensure timely and effective delivery of project
Help develop the technical risk assessment document ensuring identification of probability of occurrence and agreed mitigation measures.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
Establishing, maintaining and developing an effective, motivated and highly proactive engineering team to facilitate their execution of activities and associated documentation to quality, time and cost
Establishing and maintaining, an Engineering Execution Plan and engineering team deliverables, programme and cost which meets the needs and satisfies the expectations of our “customers”
Ensuring that the allocation of tasks to individual Engineers and Technicians within the team is commensurate with their competencies to facilitate the quality, timely and cost effective execution of the Project(s)
Ensuring that the activities undertaken and documentation prepared by the team are compliant with Business Operating Procedures and meet the requirements and needs and satisfy the reasonable expectations of our internal and external customers
Co-ordinating the release of documents to and from the engineering team, ensuring the prompt resolution of any identified ambiguous, conflicting or incomplete data, and the management of the engineering interfaces, to facilitate the effective, timely and efficient execution of the Project(s)
Ensuring adequate Team Leadership in the evaluation and resolution/mitigation of problems and risks and ensuring adequate representation of the team at meetings to ensure quality, timely and cost effective execution of the Project(s)
Ensuring the execution of the team scope to quality, time and cost, including cost effective and profit margin enhancing design
Ensuring that the engineering team are fully informed and involved in all aspects of the Project and, through formal reportage, advise the status of vulnerabilities and opportunities and the programme and cost performance of the engineering team
