Project Manager, Central Branch (Selby/South Normanton)

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE
Minimum Qualifications
HNC/HND in related engineering discipline
Preferred Qualifications
Engineering Degree
Membership of APM or equivalent

Experience
Experience within a mechanical/electrical engineering EPC environment
Proven track record in role of Project Manager or supporting project role in executing multi-disciplined EPC projects from inception through completion
Negotiation and control of external equipment and services suppliers and contractors
Record of site management experience of multi-disciplined site construction, plant installation, testing and commissioning of project work

KEY COMPETENCIES
Knowledge of the principles of the Company Quality Policy and Business Operating Procedures in order to execute/complete projects, deliver Customer satisfaction and achieve or improve profit targets
Understanding of Project Management issues and effective use of all PM tools and techniques
Commercial awareness with exposure to negotiation techniques
Ability to organise and communicate
Ability to evaluate technical and contractual information
Understanding of Project Risk and risk management
Team leadership / team building technique
Knowledge of need to evaluate, develop and improve existing practices to improve project performance and increase benefit.

KEY DUTIES
Direct and manage all aspects of multi-discipline EPC projects from inception through completion.
From Sales Handover, define base line scope, programmes and allowances together with the procedures for management of requests for change to allowance/budgets in advance of Project Execution Plan issue.
Preparation of the Project Execution Plan for the execution of all project activities in accordance with the Company Business Operating Procedures and specific Client/contract requirements.
Develop the organisational structure for a multi-disciplined team from nominated resources essential for the successful execution of the project.
Define the policies and processes for clear communications to all parties involved in the project.
Manage the preparation and regular update of the Project Schedule against which all project deliverables are monitored and controlled.
Initiate and review engineering design, procurement, manufacturing, shipping, sub-contract, project operations and site activity to ensure compliance with project specifications, schedule requirements and Company legal obligations.
Optimise completion of deliverables, equipment and services for most cost effective shipment to Client’s site.
Review Project Financial status and manage change control, taking action to mitigate liability for overrun, variations or third party claims.
Report progress in compliance with the Project Execution Plan mandates.
Assist and support the Sales, Marketing and Proposals initiatives as directed from time to time as a function of Projects Group Departmental duties.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

Point of contact and liaison/communication between Company and Client
Project Budget management and authority for approval of project Expenditure
Improve on or as a minimum ensure achievement of the Company’s financial targets set for the project
Ensure compliance with the Company’s Quality Policy and Business Operating Procedures recognising specific Customer driven requirements as defined in the Project Execution Plan
Ensure competent staff and equipment resource is maintained for the various stages in the life cycle of the project. Review staff development needs
Communicate to ensure complete awareness of all team and contractor members of interface roles and responsibilities to achieve global project objectives
Identify, review and manage project risk avoiding/minimising financial exposure
Manage Project Reporting throughout the life cycle of the project on an open, no surprises basis
Control of Project Close Out and determination of close out strategy
Maintain a proficient, ethical and cooperative approach with Client, Contractors and Team Members
