The Role
The role is for a Road Safety Officer, mainly delivering practical child pedestrian training in
primary schools and community groups across the Borough. The training programme aims to
teach the children basic practical skills in crossing the roads in their environment safely.
The role will involve:
• Working closely with Schools
• Occasional weekend and evening work
• Close teamwork to ensure the service is delivered in an homogenous and efficient was
across the Borough
• This role may be considered for Term Time only working.
Responsibilities
The main responsibilities of the post will be to deliver practical child pedestrian training to
children aged 5 – 7 years of age. This will involve liaising with schools to programme in the
inputs, organising the delivery of the inputs and the volunteers who assist in the delivery of
this project. Theory inputs will also need to be given to reinforce the practical sessions.
